Movies and Documentaries about Apple, Microsoft and Google are already very famous. You will find plenty of documentaries on Steve Jobs and Bill Gates – their conference’s, their vision and their life. Google also has a few documentaries about its culture and work environment. What about Facebook. Below is our research on movies and documentaries about Facebook.
Social Network – Movie about Facebook
Social network is a very famous movie about Facebook and I am sure you must have heard about it. Infact its a must watch if you are a Facebook fan. Most of the things in this movie are based on real facts. It clearly shows (and help people explain) how it all got started. What was the idea, how it turned out to be real big. However the film mostly captures the life of Mark (growth of a entrepreneur) and how he became so rich and famous. It also depicts the complications in Mark’s life which came as a part of such growth. However it talks very less about the Facebook growth, new idea, work environment.
Where to watch
You can watch this movie online (some sites are streaming for free), but I would recommend you to buy its DVD and watch this film. Its a great movie.

Storyline – From IMDB
On a fall night in 2003, Harvard undergrad and computer programming genius Mark Zuckerberg sits down at his computer and heatedly begins working on a new idea. In a fury of blogging and programming, what begins in his dorm room soon becomes a global social network and a revolution in communication. A mere six years and 500 million friends later, Mark Zuckerberg is the youngest billionaire in history… but for this entrepreneur, success leads to both personal and legal complications.
Evolution of Facebook – Documentary
This documentary is four part video available on youtube (you can watch for free) about evolution of Facebook. “Bloomberg Game Changers” follows the career of Mark Zuckerberg, founder and chief executive officer of Facebook Inc. This again captures the life of Mark and how Facebook came into picture (with all the legal barrier) and it does not represent the internal work environment and how work is done inside Facebook.. What I would have more appreciated is to get the words from Mark’s himself (he himself speaking about Facebook and his ideas).

How Facebook Changed the World – The Arab Spring
I found this video on youtube and its titled looked pretty interesting to me. One thing I would say is Facebook made people closer to each other, so it made us more social. Some people argue that Facebook has made us lazy and we spent more time on computer (then to go out and do some workout). However after watching this video I changed my perspective – Facebook is definitely making an impact. The documentary shows
How people connected and collaborated with each other to come up with a revolution
People were able to express their views and these were read by other people on Facebook
Facebook helped to create awareness among people – this helped in a big way
People captured videos/pictures on their mobile phones and shared these on Facebook
Facebook emerged as an alternate media
Facebook Obsession
A good documentary on Facebook by cnbc. You get to see Mark speaking about Facebook (2004 video) and how it is going to be pretty big. The video also captures how Facebook got started and how it started to growing (Facemash turned into Facebook). It also lay downs example on how people used Facebook for different purposes – a lady found her biological mother using Facebook (what an excellent use of Facebook).
With more than half a billion users around the world, Facebook has altered our everyday lives for better or worse, and in ways we may not even recognize. Correspondent Lester Holt explores the real story behind the $50 billion dollar social network juggernaut.

Trust me this is a great video and a must watch.
BBC – Inside Facebook – $100 Billion Gamble
Interview with Mark Zuckerberg – the one video I was actually surfing on the internet. As Facebook heads for its 100 billion dollar flotation, Emily Maitlis updates her recent documentary on the prospects for Mark Zuckerberg’s social network phenomenon. She examines how Facebook, now with 900 million users, plans to earn the billions its new investors will expect from it. With exclusive access to Mark Zuckerberg and senior executives, Emily tells the Facebook story, and reports on its challenge – to build its advertising business from the personal information its users provide, without losing their trust. Work at Facebook – What is it like
This is an awesome documentary about “What it is to work at Facebook”. If you are one of the billion people who use Facebook, it is likely you have used the social networking site at work. But have you ever wondered what it is like for the people who work at Facebook. One of the world’s biggest technology companies, Facebook relies on some old-school methods to motivate their workers – and they encourage employees to get their hands dirty, decorating their surroundings and producing motivational posters.
I am not able to share the video here itself as it is posted on BBC News, but I would say “do visit this page” and watch this video. The office looks pretty awesome and I am sure it would be world class experience to work at Facebook. People can play board games and video games. Last part of video shows – getting items printed on paper (and make posters) – its a supercool idea.
